🚪“Who Do You Think You Are?” Syndrome: Why Healing Around Familiar Folks Feels Like Trying to Meditate in a Mosh Pit😵💫
Healing around folks who’ve known you since your “trauma was trending” era is like trying to do a silent retreat in a group chat full of drama. 📱 🌱✨🧠💥👀💃🏽🧘🏽♀️🦋💫 You’re out here sipping herbal tea, journaling your breakthroughs, and quoting the Catechism like it’s scripture meets slam poetry, meanwhile, they’re still calling you by your old nickname: “Hot Mess Express.” 🚂💅🏽😏 🧬 Familiarity Breeds💩Emotional Flatulence? 💁♀️Let’s be real. People who’ve always known you have a mental scrapbook of your greatest hits and by hits, I mean breakdowns, bad decisions, and that one time you tried to heal with essential oils and ended up smelling like a lemon scented existential crisis. 🍋😵💫 So when you start setting boundaries, speaking affirmations, and wearing crystals like they’re armor, they look at you like you just joined a cult.🔮📖 They’re not always haters. But if they’re not growing, your glow up feels like a personal attack. Suddenly, your healing becomes their villain origin story. 💡➡️💣 🧠 Mirror, Mirror on the Wall 🧐Why You Healing at All? Your growth is basically a spiritual mirror. And not everyone wants to see their emotional acne. 🪞😬 You say, “I’m healing.” They hear, “You should be too.” And boom🧨 cue the guilt trip, gaslighting, or ghosting. 👻🧃 They’ll hit you with: “You think you’re better than us now?” “You’re too sensitive.” “You used to be fun.” 🙄 Translation: “Your healing makes me uncomfortable because I’m still emotionally constipated.” 💩🔍 🦋 The Cocoon Is Not a Group Project: Healing is not a team sport. It’s more like solo skydiving with a parachute made of prayer and boundaries. 🪂🙏 Sometimes, you gotta leave the environment that taught you to shrink just to remember how to expand. You can love people from a distance while protecting your peace like it’s the last charger at a coffee shop. 🔌☕🛡️ Yes, it’s lonely. But loneliness is often the price of liberation. And baby, freedom looks good on you💃🏽🔥 🌸Love & Light Affirmation: "I am worthy of healing, even if it makes others uncomfortable. I release the need to be understood by those committed to misunderstanding me. I honor my growth, protect my peace, and trust that God is guiding me to higher ground." 🙌Here's a fresh Reiki infused prayer that honors the sacred struggle of healing in environments that resist transformation: 🙏Prayer for Courageous Growth in Familiar Places: Divine Architect of Renewal, You see me in every stage the broken, the blooming, the becoming. You know the weight of old rooms, old roles, and old expectations. Give me strength to evolve, even when it confuses those who knew my shadows. Let my healing be holy, even if it’s lonely. Let my boundaries be blessed, even if they’re misunderstood. I release the need to shrink for comfort. I release the guilt of outgrowing what no longer serves. I walk in truth, even when it’s inconvenient. I rise in love, even when it’s resisted. Surround me with those who celebrate my becoming. And for those who cannot; bless them, heal them, and release them. I am not who I was. I am who You are calling me to be. And I say yes. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen. Ameen. Ase. And so be it. 🪷 📚 Sources: Catechism of the Catholic Church. Libreria Editrice Vaticana, 1994. Van Der Kolk, Bessel. The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma.
